In late 2018, David and his wife decided to buy an old house in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. The house was a great deal because it had been abandoned for a long time after the previous owners left suddenly.

And the former owner wasn’t just an ordinary citizen—he was a former member of an international money laundering and smuggling ring who had stashed his loot there before planning to flee, but died in a car crash.
